Oshino Books was created in Tokyo in October 2003. It aims to be an independent publisher of books on Japan, and eventually on Asia. The focus of its book projects will be fiction, culture, travel and lifestyle. Its first book project is "Tokyo Stories," a novel (ISBN4-902425-00-9) by Christine Miki on the crazy aspects of expatriate life in Tokyo. Tokyo Stories is distributed in Japan by Alexandra Press, and it is now available at major English-language book outlets in Japan such as Kinokuniya bookstores, Tower Records, Costco Stores, National Azabu bookstore, Blue Parrot English Bookstore and Kids' Books. Oshino Books' other book projects in 2004 include "Charming Japanese Country Inns," a guidebook on some of the loveliest places to stay in the Japanese countryside, and "The Ultimate Tokyo Shopping Guide (working title)," a detailed guide to shopping in Japan's capital. Oshino Book English-language projects are distributed in Japan mainly by Alexandra Press, and overseas by various foreign distributors.
